There is something special about Mothers
Gen 3:20 -"Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living."
That's where it all started. With God creating a man and woman to join together to become one and become parents. It's a strong role, and a very important role to have and to cherish.
With Mother's Day now a day gone, I pray we still remember to honor the mother's in our lives.Their job is a 24 hour 365 day a week job. One day a year really isn't much when you think about it.
I am blessed to have several mother figures that God has placed in my life over the years. Each of them coming in at a time when I needed them the most.
I have my mom, my wonderful parent, Linda. She and my dad have been married for 43 years. They have set a godly example in not only marriage, but in parenting. My parents live 800 miles away from us, so it's difficult when things happen and they can't be here. I left NY with my ex and our children when I was 21. I have lived in 4 states, settling finally in North Carolina where my sister and her family also reside.
Over the course of those travels, I have met some amazing women who stepped in when my mother couldn't be here to do it. I think it's awesome that God works in that way. You don't have to give birth to someone to become a mother figure in their lives.I am thankful for these ladies who watched my children so I could work and go back to college, being that I was a single mom shortly after I left New York.
He placed me in churches where mother figures where there to gently guide me, love me, and help me through difficult things that came up in life. To give sound advice and teach me how to be a good, godly mother myself. To get out of the me mode, and focus on raising my children in the way of the Lord and give them a strong foundation. Even when the guilt came in for the mistakes I made, or the selfishness I had, or for their dad not being around, they helped me to see I was a good mother, and that its a special role.
God places a motherly gift in women. He gives them that nuturing desire and that need to love and have compassion. To heal, to comfort, to correct you even if it hurts them more, to stand firm on their values and beliefs, to instill a strong foundation that they pray everyday you won't turn from. There is just something really special about a mother. Expecially her power of prayer. Remember to Pray daily for your children, its the best thing you can do for them.
I think that is why the Lord says in Ephesians 6:1-3-" Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. (2) “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), (3) “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” He knows the importance of godly parents and their role in their childrens lives. We mothers need to always strive to be the mother God called us to be. To honor Him in the role He granted us in this life. Even if you don't have biological children, it is never too late to mother a young lady who is in need of the love and compassion that only a mother can give.
May God Bless all your mothers and may your hard work be rewarded.
